[:it]La mia prima reflex: Pentax K-50[:en]My first reflex camera: Pentax K-50[:]
[:it]
Canon EOS1200D, Nikon D3300, Sony SLT-A58 e Pentax K-50.
In conclusione…

In my life I got two compact digital cameras: when I was nine years old I had a Vivitar camera (I do not remember the model…), at sixteen I got a Nikon Coolpix S 8000 camera. After I had seriously begun to learn something about photography with my father’s old Canon AV1 camera (a semi-automatic reflex camera from 1979); at the age of twenty-one I finally decided to buy my first ditigal reflex camera.
The candidates…
Due to my low budget, I had to compare entry-level reflex cameras proposed by different brands: Canon EOS1200D, Nikon D3300, Sony SLT-A58 and Pentax K-50. I excluded the Canon camera because of its technical features by far the worst than the other ones (in my opinion, for this price range, Canon should renew itself…), and the Sony camera, because it was cheap-looking and a little bit too small to handle. The only two remaining were the Pentax and the Nikon cameras.
Pentax or Nikon?…
The choice was hard: on the one hand the Pentax camera offered more interesting features at the same price as the Nikon camera (pentaprism, tropicalization, double regulation ring, 1/6000 shutter, image stabilizer, etc.), on the other hand the Nikon camera, undoubtedly with less features, provided a wider range of lenses to choose, a more dynamic flea market and the possibility to switch to a full frame system.
The final choice.
In the end I made up my mind and bought a Pentax camera.
While visiting some photography forums (among them I suggest you the “Juza forum” and the “Foto Come Fare” forums, in addition to the specialized single-brand forums as “Pentaxiani”, “NikonClub” etc), I was getting more and more convinced of the better price-performance ratio of Pentax cameras instead of the Nikon ones as far as the entry level price range is concerned. Furthermore I realized that, due to the fact that Pentax has always used the same K-bayonet mount for lenses, accessories are easy to find. In addition you can use “vintage” lens without any problems, because the body of the K-50 camera is stabilized.
As far as my last doubt is concerned (the possibility to switch to a full-frame system in the future), I was glad to find out that “Ricoh”, the current parent company of Pentax, has already announced and presented a full-frame camera body, compatible with APS-C cameras, available within spring 2016.
In conclusion…
I am more than satisfied with my purchase. The camera showcases an excellent colour rendering, very little image noise at high ISO and it has a very well assembled and ergonomic body. I can only be sure of the brand I decided to rely on in the future, but so far, after confronting my camera with others on the market, I can affirm that I am 100% satisfied.
